A Season Worth of Content

This year marked a major milestone for me, completing my first full season in motorsport with Algarve Pro Racing. What began as an opportunity to step deeper into racing quickly evolved into one of the most rewarding and intense creative experiences of my career. Every circuit presented something different, every weekend pushed me in a new way, and the pace of the paddock became a rhythm I grew to love.

Through the entire European Le Mans Series season, and the unforgettable 24 Hours of Le Mans, I worked closely with multiple drivers, each bringing their own personalities, challenges, and moments worth capturing. From quiet pre race focus to the chaos of pit stops to the emotional highs and lows after the chequered flag, I was constantly shooting video and photos that reflected the reality of life inside a competitive endurance racing team.

One of the biggest highlights of the year was Spa, easily my favourite race weekend. It was the first race track I ever visited back in 2022 when I was just working for a driver, and returning with a completely different role felt surreal. Spa is also the most picturesque circuit on the calendar, surrounded by forests, elevation changes, and that unmistakable atmosphere. I had also cycled there last year with Olli Caldwell, so coming back with that memory gave me a new perspective on the place. It was a full circle moment, creatively and personally.

This season I shot everything on one single camera and lens combination, the Canon R5 Mark II paired with the RF 24 to 70mm f 2.8. That setup became an extension of me, always on my shoulder or in my hand, ready for whatever was happening in front of me. All the stories, reels, and quick behind the scenes moments were backed up by my iPhone, which allowed me to capture the spontaneous moments that fans love to see.

My role was far from limited to shooting content. One thing I got involved in that many photographers or videographers rarely touch was the physical setup and teardown of the garage. With APR being a small, tight knit team, it was all hands on deck. Between shots I would help with equipment, move gear, and do whatever needed to be done to keep everything running smoothly. That hands on involvement gave me a deeper respect for the crew and a much clearer understanding of how a race weekend actually works behind the scenes. It also meant I was always in the right place at the right time for the moments that matter.

Alongside capturing the season visually, I also supported the team’s social media strategy and added touches of graphic design to create a more consistent identity. Over six months we grew the team’s following from 6,000 to 11,000, which showed a clear hunger for behind the scenes insight and creative storytelling. Working closely with the championship itself helped amplify that reach, allowing us to produce content that benefitted both the team and the wider audience.

Looking back, this season pushed me creatively, technically, and personally. Working Tuesday to Monday during race weeks, travelling across Europe, and managing huge amounts of footage became second nature. I learned to be adaptable, organised, and ready for anything. More importantly, I realised how much I love telling stories within motorsport and how much potential there is to grow within this world.

To close out the season, one thing has become very clear to me. The goal now is to niche down and focus entirely on producing and shooting content at the highest level. This year showed me how much I enjoy collaborating directly with media managers, understanding what they want to communicate, and helping them achieve those goals through strong visuals and intentional storytelling. Going forward, I want to refine that even further, working closely with teams and organisations that truly value high quality content and continuing to push what can be created in motorsport.

This is just the beginning, and I cannot wait to see what comes next.
